At the Diaspora University Town (DUT) workshop held on 22nd August 2025, Faith Mwachala, the DUT MSMEs & Property department manager, expressed gratitude to Diaspora Kenyans, the Ndara B Community, Kenyans, and KCB Bank for their role in creating jobs for Generation Z. She noted that while two years ago she would attend the DUT workshop and find opportunity at DUT. This year, she proudly presented the opportunities in DUT as she worked to open more opportunities for her generation.

Faith praised the KCB Bank bankers for embracing the DUT vision and working to operationalize the Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company (KMRC) mortgage product. She said, “By working with DUT to offer KMRC products, KCB Bank will not just offer mortgages; the Bank will create jobs for our generation.”

She added, “Our generation does not want to read that Ksh 29 billion lies idle when we lack jobs and housing. We want those who get the opportunity to work in the financial sector to think outside the box and turn this money into houses. Turning the money into houses will increase business revenues and thousands of new jobs for my generation.”

Faith acknowledged the patriotism, sacrifice, and commitment of professionals such as Prof. Philliph Mutisya, who returned from Raleigh, NC, in the U.S., and Phyllis Kiarie, who returned from Tory University in Tory, Alabama, USA, and spoke at the DUT workshop.

Both scholars are today in Kenya progressing the Diaspora University's opening as they bring their expertise back to Kenya. Talking to her peers, Faith said, “The return of Diaspora Kenyans is a powerful example of Diaspora knowledge being invested back into the country. As Gen Z, we should work hard to get this knowledge and advance our country for ourselves and future generations.”

Faith was happy to listen to the DUT Design-Builder, Eng. Jack Jaramba, talk about the DUT design–build plan for the property and roads. She cannot wait to live in one of the townhouses. She is already a townhouse developer using the THIDA system, and through her job, she will qualify for the KCB mortgage of 105%, up to 10.5 million, 9%, and 25-year tenor.

Pitching to her fellow Gen Z, Faith says, “DUT town and university is the place to live in as we combine housing, education, health, and businesses to drive economic growth, develop a clean environment, and create jobs.”

She calls upon her fellow Gen Z who studied engineering, architecture, and other professional fields in Kenya and the Diaspora to join in building DUT.

She appreciates and thanks all the investors who have brought this project to today by becoming townhouse developers, starting MSMEs, or playing other roles. She also thanks the Ndara B Community for embracing the project and becoming its founders.

She says, “Listening to Ronal Mwang’ombe of Ndara B Community talk passionately about the billions that will pass through the pockets of Ndara B Community members made me proud of the community.”

Faith, reflecting on the workshop, said, “I’m proud and inspired: Two years ago, I came to the workshop and opened my opportunity at DUT. I was one of the presenters this year, standing alongside other professionals. I look forward to working hard so that in next year's workshop, we can report that over 5,000 jobs are created, as we welcome the first class of Gen Z to join the university and contribute to Kenya’s progress.”
