Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the largest contributors to the U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which has grown from $53 billion in 1933 to $30 trillion. This growth has also created more than 80% of jobs in the U.S. 300 MSMEs will be open at Diaspora University Town (DUT). Diaspora Kenyans are invited to open new MSMEs.
Dan Kamau, formerly of Worcester, MA, who is currently the DUT Project Director, says this is a great opportunity for Diaspora Kenyans to expand Kenya's GDP and build wealth. He says Kenya's current GDP is about $130 billion and will grow to over $2 trillion over the next 50 years, driven by these MSMEs.
Dan cites McDonald's as one of the many MSMEs founded by American entrepreneurs and Inventors in the 1940s and 1950s that are today part of the $30 trillion U.S. GDP. He explains that Kenya's GDP growth is one of the things DUT, as a project and system, will progress.
Already, Diaspora Kenyans are starting MSMEs. Anne Kiarie of Seattle and other Diaspora Kenyans have started a Clothing MSME that is now producing wear garments. The plan they are working on will capitalize the company through 600,000 shares. By 2030, this MSME goal is to produce 250,000 units, create 300 jobs, and generate Ksh 350 million in revenue.
Dan says the DUT project offers significant opportunities for Diaspora Kenyans to open businesses that could become franchises and contribute to Kenya's GDP growth. He says the businesses that Diaspora Kenyans open can be expanded abroad.
